The "Chocolate Eggers" are laying.

My Cuckoo Marans, the "chocolate eggers" are laying now. Some Maran varieties are said to lay darker eggs than the Cuckoos, but I'm pretty happy with the shade that mine are producing. The color is just a perk, after all - it's the egg I'm after.

This is a photo of a Buff Orpington egg and a Cuckoo Maran egg.

My daughter was very disappointed that these weren't real chocolate eggs.

I find it weird that I always pick the egg with the darker shell over lighter shelled eggs. Must be some deep rooted survival thing to do with things being ripe... or something...

I'm just as disappointed as she is. So who does lay those chocolate eggs. I guess it's the Cadbury hens.

Come on over to my blog and leave me your e-mail address. Your name was picked for those fish earrings.

Maybe in the spring I might be getting some new hens. :)

Thanks!
