Here it is, folks.

The first flower of the season. Too pretty to stay in the ground.

Ha!! Were you in on "the picking" or was this a "surprise"? I remember, one year, when I was about 7, going through our yard and picking off every single rhododendron bud to use as play food for my pretend game of "house". I can still remember the freak-out my mom had over that! And, of course, very little actually bloomed in our yard that year. But what a fun game of "house" I had that day. :-)

Oh, this was a surprise. lol - I didn't even see it until we were in the house. I still have no idea where she found it. She's been eyeing the daffodil buds for days now but I've been fending her off. We'll see if they even get to bloom.

I love the story of you playing house with the rhododendron buds.

Gosh is she the prettiest girl ever. Love those eyes. They just sparkle!

I remember when I was about 6 when I walked home from the nickle candy store and clipped off a beautiful rose to give to my stepmom.

When I gave it to ehr she wasn't happy, though. She was angry!
She said I was a bad girl for stealing old widow Trudy's roses and I need to march right over there with a big apology.

I don't think I ever gave my stepmom flowers again, though.
