Seed-starting setup.

Set up my seed-starting stand. I'll start my onions, leeks, broccoli and cabbage on Monday when my vermiculite gets here.

I made this stand last year using the instructions on this webpage. It's really a slick design. It cost me around $80 for the pvc and lights.

I haven't added the lights yet this year since I won't be starting plants for another few days and my girls are currently using it as a jungle gym.

I need to get a seed starting set up going. In the past I've just waited and started them outside but I'd like to get an earlier start this year.

We have a very short season up here, so we can't get things like tomatoes if we start them from seed outdoors. Since the nurseries around here don't carry varieties I enjoy, if I want starts, I have to start them myself.

I *really* hope I have better luck this year than I did last year.

Thanks for posting this on MDC. I built one of my own (only smaller) and it's really nice to have such an economical solution. I started my onion and indoor herb seeds this week! (I put pictures of my setup on my blog.)
